Programme at C.I.T. Park.






Hari Om to All,
This month the students of SMS Trust gave a programme of Slokas and Songs, at the C.I.T.Colony Park, Mylapore on the 24th of this month. The children sang well, and it was very well appreciated by all parents, walkers at the park, friends and well wishers.
These children were accompanied on the Keyboard by Master. A.Rohith, and on the Mridangam by Master Shivakumar Mahesh.
The Organisers appreciated Mrs. Nalini for the good training she has given to the children in the field of Slokas and Vocal Music.

Happy Deepavali

Thank you

This is just to thank you all for your presence at our 15th Annual day Celebrations at Pethachi Auditorium.on the 24th of this month.
It was really encouraging to see the hall overflowing with children parents and well wishers.
We take this oppurtunity to inform you all that the Sloka Cd is available with us for Sales. In case you need them you could contact us and we can send them to you by post.
The Cd cost is Rs.130.00p and postage Rs. 25/= You are also most welcome to come in person and collect same, after calling us by phone.
Our regular classes for children will resume from the 2nd of September(coming Monday)

SMS July Competitions

The Annual Competitions in Sloka, B.Gita,Vishnu Sahasranamam, Vocal and Instrumental music, were held on the 21st and 28th of July 2013, at the Madras Sanskrit College, Chennai-600 004.
The place was overflowing with children and parents eagerly waiting to see their children enter and win in these competitions. The Volunteers organised the whole event very well. Each Competition was held in a different room, and there were two well known and knowledgeable judges for each competition.
The children all came  in traditional dress, which was a real treat to the viewers and judges.
Mrs. Nalini Ramprasad was co ordinating with all the children, parents and the judges. The Competitions started at 10 a.m. and closed by 5 p.m.

The monthly Sathsangh for the month of May was held on the 1st of June 2013.
The hall was full, with children, parents and well wishers. Sri. Thiruvarur Girish, (Grandson of Smt. Brindamma---Padm Javali expert) was present as an invitee. He was invited on behalf of the young mridangam player, Master Rama Sesha Gopal, who is a student of Thiruvarur Bakthavatsalam.
Shrunjay Krishnan sang with confidence, and Rama Sesha Gopal was a good support for him. Both of them got good appreciation from Sri. Girish and all members present.

Partcipants were given a Certificate of Appreciation, and a gift as an encouragement to them.
Sri. Girish also sang a Javali on request by Mrs. Nalini Ramprasad, and this was really enjoyed by all present.
After, the Mass chanting of a Sloka, and Namavali on Lord Shiva, Aarthi to the lord was done and Prasadam was distributed to all.

MAY 2013 SATHSANGH

Monthly  Sathsangh

The monthly Sathsangh for May 2013 is to be held on the 1st of June 2013 (Saturday)
from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Venue: New No 35, Subramaniam Street, Abhiramapuram, Chennai-600 018.
Programme.
1. All Children, parents and well wishers assemble at 5.45.p.m.
2. Mass chanting of a New Sloka/ Song by all present.
3. Vocal Music by Master V.Shrnjay Krishnan ...a student 0f std. X. He is a student of Smt. Kunnakudy  
    Bala. He will be accompanied on the Mridangam by Master. Ram Seshagopal of Std.VIII. He is a      
    student of Sri Thiruvarur Bakthavathsalam.The programme will be for 20 minutes.
4. There will be Aarthi to the Lord and Prasadam will be distributed to all present.

We request all parents to come in large members with your friends and encourage the children.

March 2013 Sathsangh Photos &report

        The Sathsangh held on 30th of March 2013, was well received by one and all present.

The programme was enjoyable, listening to the Kalyani Varnam, Thathva meruga...Thyagaraja keerthanai,
Sara Sara samare, Aayar padi, and Raghupathi Raghava raja raam played  in a melodious way.
It was well appreciated by all present.

While the Sathsanghs are done regularly to encourage the Children, it was quite  disappointing to note that many parents and children, do not make use of this oppurtunity and attend these functions, which is  held only on the Last Saturday of the month between 6 and 7 p.m.
Children with any artistic talent, are always welcome to participate in these programmes.

Hari Om to All,
The Sathsangh for this month will be on the 30th March(coming Saturday) between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m.
The programme will be as follows.
All parents, children and participants will gather at 5.45. p.m..
1. There will be Mass Chanting of a New Sloka which will be taught by Mrs. Nalini Ramprasad,
   with  proper  meanings.
2. There will be a Violin concert by Miss. Varsha ...a student of 6th Std.(For 25 minutes)
    She will be accompanied on the Mridangam by Sri. Shankar Menon a college student.
3. Aarthi will be shown to the Lord and Prasadam will be distributed.to all.

    We request all of you to come in large numbers and encourage the children's talents.

February 2013 Sathsangh


It was heartening to see the large number of Parents, Children, Well wishers  and friends gather here and encourage the children.

 
The programme started with Mrs. Nalini Ramprasad, teaching two New Slokas to the members present. One was on Adi Sankara and the other on Lord Shiva. Members were distributed the xerox copies of the slokas with the expalnation for these slokas.


 Next the tiny tots of SMS Trust recited a Guru sloka followed by a Saraswathi Dwadasa Nama Stothra, with good clarity and diction.


 
After that the older children recited the Guruvashtakam and Sharada Stothram, in a very clear and bright manner, which was well appreciated by all.

The music students of SMS Trust sang a few songs with great enthusiasm and good sense of rythm
Finally all the children together sang a Devotional song on Lord Krishna, and it really gave a wonderful cheer and happiness to all present. All the Participants were given a Music Cd each as an encouragement for their effort and presentation.
Finally Mrs. Nalini Ramprasad did the Aarthi to the, Lord and Prasadam was distributed to all present.


Children with good talent in music, slokas gita chanting or instruments are welcome to contact us, to participate in such Sathsangh programmes.
